Future stars of British Hairdressing appear on stage at International Hairdressing Event.
In front of an audience of 1500 hairdressers from across the globe, the 14 members of TIGI Inspirational Youth appeared on stage at Salon Live, during the Salon International Exhibition Weekend held at Excel in the London Docklands.
Our very own Pippa Crellin, was one of the 14 talented young hairdressers who won a place on the prestigious team. After the 6 months training, like all the other team members, Pippa, said that the experience had been life-changing, giving motivation and focus for the future.
Each year, the Inspirational Youth Team is sponsored by professional hair product company: TIGI and over a 6-month period the team members are mentored in hairdressing, presentation and trend skills by senior members of TIGI’s own Creative Team. The culmination of the training period is a 2 day photographic shoot and the live 90 minute Inspirational Youth Show in which each of the 14 hairdressers cuts and styles a professional model on stage and also presents a further model styled in a high-fashion catwalk look.
This is the 6th year that TIGI have run the Inspirational Youth training programme. Salon owners from across the UK put forward young newly qualified stylists and the final team are selected by TIGI International Creative Director, Anthony Mascolo, European Creative Director, Nick Irwin, European and Education Director, Akos Bodi.
After the Show Nick Irwin said: “For all of us it is always an emotional journey. We always end up being inspired ourselves. And this year’s team were especially strong. They were a bright, polite and creative bunch and I’m sure they’ll all go far.”
